Sport and Recreation / Links to Leisure

Fun is the focus of The Disability Trust’s Sport and Recreation Services, which provides opportunities for people of all ages with disabilities to participate in and enjoy physical and creative activities.

We have programs for children, teenagers and adults that provide opportunities to meet people, learn new skills, play in competitions, perform on stage and develop their creative side.

Our programs are specially designed and operate in a supportive environment to cater for people of varying abilities.

This program provides the opportunity for participants in the Illawarra and Shoalhaven to engage in sport and recreation activities in the afternoon and on weekends. Activities are tailored towards the needs of all participants where you learn the skills associated with each activity in a fun and supportive envirnoment. Programs include:

BlueScope Steel Sports Ready Program

This program is designed to teach sports skills to children with a disability in primary and special schools. It aims to help children participate in sport by teaching them sport-specific skills, rules, teamwork and etiquette. Experienced
instructors conduct modified games, designed around the specific needs of the students. Sports include –

  • Tee Ball
  • Hockey
  • Netball
  • Rugby

Fitness 4 All

The Disability Trust offers the opportunity for people to get fit in a fun & supportive environment where participants will be able to exercise at their own pace under the tuition of qualified staff. We specialize in group and personal training.

Profits from Fitness 4 All go directly to Sport & Recreation Services therefore assisting the development of sport and recreational activities for people with a disability in the Illawarra and Shoalhaven.

Links to Leisure

Recreation Sutherland and St George

At our Southern Sydney site the emphasis is on giving individuals the opportunity for community and centre based peer support with a focus on fun, empowerment and individuals choices. Groups include
