Aurora engaging in a two-week trial of the Grid Pad 13 eye-gaze device, provided by Zyteq Assistive Technology to communicate

Technology That Talks: Aurora’s Eye Gaze Journey

Aurora has recently begun a complimentary two-week trial of the Grid Pad 13 eye-gaze device, provided by Zyteq Assistive Technology, at Foothills Day Options, with the enthusiastic support of her dedicated care team. As a nonverbal communicator, Aurora has faced challenges expressing her needs and preferences, but this cutting-edge technology is opening up exciting new possibilities for her to communicate and engage with those around her.

Using just her eyes, Aurora can now make independent choices about her meals, daily activities, and other personal preferences. This newfound ability to make decisions for herself is incredibly empowering, as it gives her a greater sense of control and autonomy in her everyday life. Being able to clearly communicate her preferences with her support staff also enhances the quality of care she receives, ensuring that her needs and desires are understood and respected.

Beyond practical communication, the device enables Aurora to engage in enjoyable and meaningful experiences, such as playing games, listening to music, and exploring new activities. These moments of engagement contribute significantly to her overall well-being and happiness.

This trial not only highlights Aurora’s progress but also showcases the incredible potential of assistive technology to improve overall quality of life and foster independence for people with disability. Providing tools that enable choice and voice is fundamental to empowering people like Aurora to live fuller, more connected lives.

We look forward to seeing how this technology continues to support Aurora on her communication journey.
