Blaine receiving his certificate

Blaine opens doors to new job opportunities

Blaine is a Workskills participant who recently achieved his goal of entering mainstream employment in an industry he’s passionate about.

Employment Consultants from our Workskills team have supported Blaine with the progression of his training and employment goals. By working together, they identified opportunities for Blaine to pursue to secure his dream job.

Blaine had his learner driver’s licence, which was flagged as a barrier to employment within his desired industries.

To address this, with the support of his employment consultants he began attending private driving lessons and enrolled in the PCYC drivers’ course which allowed him to log valuable driving hours.

To further enhance his qualifications, the decision was made to enrol in a Certificate III in Supply Chain Operations to provide Blaine with the necessary skills and certifications, including a forklift license and white card.

Over the following six months, Blaine remained committed to his goals, consistently attending his fortnightly appointments and staying on track with both his course and driving hours.

Blaine remained focused on his objectives, with a clear priority on securing employment upon completing his course.

Blaine successfully graduated from the course and obtained his Provisional Driver’s Licence late last year.

With a new tailored resume, strong sense of determination and the support of Employment Consultants from Workskills, Blaine was equipped to continue to apply for full-time work.

He independently applied for a position as a Dockhand/Parcel Sorter at Team Global Express. His application was met with prompt interest and he was offered the role the following week.

Blaine was successful in his endeavour to secure a full-time job in an industry he chose.

He’s a perfect example of how upskilling and seeking further training can lead to new employment opportunities. Well done and congratulations, Blaine!
