CycleAbility on the move to exciting new location

CycleAbility is on the move with the popular Sport and Recreation program relocating to the Illawarra Criterium Track at Unanderra.

The monthly cycling program has been based at the car park at The Disability Trust’s Spring Hill office but it will now be operating permanently at Lindsay Maynes Park.

CycleAbility Coordinator Brad Heffernan said the move was exciting because they now had a purpose-built, safe space for participants to learn how to ride a bike.

Brad said the Illawarra Criterium track was the ideal environment for skill development, building confidence and having fun.

Participants will benefit from learning cycling techniques on a smooth, secure track free from busy roads and distractions.

A bird's eye view of the new track.

As always, Brad and the CycleAbility team will continue providing personalised support and encouragement so that participants can grow at their own pace in a supportive setting.

“The move is a big step forward in creating more opportunities for individuals of all abilities to enjoy cycling,” he said.

“We can’t wait to welcome everyone to the new location.”

There are 15 bikes used by CycleAbility, including three-wheelers and recumbent (reclined seated) bikes.

Group members are also taught about safe riding and maintenance of bicycles.
