The Disability Trust’s annual Sports Day brought 285 students together to experience inclusive sports activities for kids. The event focused on fun, teamwork, and inclusion while helping children develop new skills and confidence.
Students enjoyed a wide variety of activities, including soccer, gymnastics, parachute games, and tug of war. These games encouraged social skills, physical activity, and collaboration in a supportive environment. Each child was able to find a sport they enjoyed, while learning how to work together and celebrate success.
Michael Norris from The Disability Trust explained the importance of tailoring the activities.
“Each child has their unique way of participating, and we focus on how we can help them feel included in every activity.”
Soccer was a clear favourite for many students. One participant shared, “Soccer because I enjoy it — and it’s fun!”
Events like this do more than create a fun day out. They help children return to school with new skills and greater confidence, which supports ongoing participation in sport and community activities. The Disability Trust works with schools, families, and local clubs to break down barriers and make sport accessible for everyone.
This year’s Sports Day was a powerful reminder of how inclusive sports activities for kids can create lasting change. When communities come together, every child has the opportunity to shine.
