Jamie

Jamie’s on the right wavelength

Jamie loves hitting the airwaves for his local radio station, Bega Valley Community Radio.

His power wheelchair needed major repairs, preventing him from being out in the community as much as he would like and leaving him feeling isolated.

After two plan reviews with the TPM team, one for his power wheelchair and the other for the new power wheelchair to be built, Jamie received his repaired power wheelchair and new power wheelchair within a week of each other in October 2023.

Since getting the new wheelchair, Jamie has been back out enjoying the community and his radio gig, which he does once a week – a three-hour slot called “Hits and Memories”, playing tunes from 1970 through to the 1980s.

The program is broadcast over the radio, via the internet and the Community Radio Plus app.

He is grateful to the NDIS for the ability to provide the equipment he needs to live an everyday life.

Jamie, who has been a TPM participant since 2019, said having the new power wheelchair had improved his daily life dramatically.

“It was a clear, easy choice to go with TPM, which is part of The Disability Trust, whom I have ties with and trust.”

Jamie said the onboarding process was easy and he didn’t have to worry about his funds and budget, as TPM provided a very effective and honest service.
