National Reconciliation Week: Joining the Chorus for Change

National Reconciliation Week, held from 27 May to 3 June, offered Australians the opportunity to reflect, learn, and unite toward a more just and inclusive future.

At The Disability Trust, we are proud to support the traditional owners of our lands, including First Nations staff, clients and the community across our footprint.

The 2025 theme, “Bridging Now to Next,” was a powerful call to continue bridging the present with a better tomorrow – through truth-telling, listening, and action. It’s a theme that aligns deeply with our own, as we strive to build a future grounded in respect, inclusion and cultural understanding.

Reconciliation Australia, as the lead body for Reconciliation in Australia, led the ‘Voices for Recognition” initiative. An initiative where “Solid Rock” by Goanna, an iconic Australian song, was chosen to promote truth, justice and to recognise the land rights of our First Nations people. We are proud to support Reconciliation Australia’s initiative with our very own

RockIts band recording a heartfelt version of “Solid Rock”, as a tribute to the enduring strength of First Nations cultures. Here is a snippet of their performance at https://vimeo.com/1088987013/fc14a46ba6

Because bridging now to next means doing the work – together, truthfully, and always.
