Project SEARCH launches at Novotel Wollongong Northbeach

On Wednesday, 26 March, The Disability Trust proudly launched its newest Project SEARCH program in collaboration with Novotel Wollongong Northbeach. The event marked the beginning of an exciting journey for a group of enthusiastic young adults ready to take their first steps toward open employment.

The launch event kicked off with warm welcomes from representatives of both The Disability Trust and Novotel, highlighting the importance of inclusive employment and the impact of meaningful partnerships. This was followed by the Intern Promise – a commitment to growth, learning, and opportunity recited together by the Project SEARCH.

Following the formalities, attendees gathered for a relaxed morning tea, giving interns and their families a chance to connect and celebrate this important milestone.

Project SEARCH is a ground-breaking nine-month internship program designed for young adults aged 17 to 30 who are seeking a pathway to open employment. Through partnerships with reputable employers like Novotel, the program offers hands-on training in real workplaces, career exploration across multiple roles, and tailored classroom learning to build essential employability skills.

Interns will complete three 12-week rotations at Novotel, gaining valuable experience and marketable job skills in a supportive environment. With the guidance of experienced instructors and job coaches, the interns will build confidence, grow their independence, and receive personalised feedback and support throughout the program.

This launch marks an exciting chapter for our interns and a strong step forward in creating more inclusive workplaces. We can’t wait to see the growth, success, and bright futures that will emerge from this powerful partnership.
