On the 31st of July 2026 everyone from The Disability Trust’s Southern Highlands Supported Independent Living (SIL) and Community Programs came together for a Christmas in July celebration.
The event, provided a wonderful opportunity to catch up with friends, share a meal and enjoy an afternoon of music and fun.
Santa Norris spreads Christmas cheer
One of the highlights of the day was a special visit from “Santa Norris”, who arrived with gifts for everyone in attendance.
Adding an extra touch of magic, each gift was handmade and thoughtfully personalised by Support Worker Deb Cambourne to reflect the recipient’s interests and preferences.
Friendly competition and festive fun
The afternoon was packed with activities, with bingo proving a crowd favourite. After some friendly competition, Geraldine Mealey was delighted to take home the bingo prize, much to the excitement of fellow players.
Throughout the day, people joined in games, shared stories and enjoyed spending time together.
Bringing people together
Southern Highlands Services Manager Kirsty Parsons said the celebration highlighted the importance of creating opportunities for connection and belonging.
“The meal brought people together to talk and laugh, reconnect, feel loved and enjoy the excitement of looking forward to doing it all again in December.”
Team Leader Mark Curran thanked staff for their efforts in making the day such a success.

Already looking forward to December
Although Christmas is still a few months away, many people left the celebration excited for the festive season and looking forward to gathering again in December.
The success of the event reflects the welcoming and vibrant spirit of The Disability Trust’s Southern Highlands services, where meaningful relationships, shared experiences and a strong sense of community continue to bring people together throughout the year.
