Taj Mahal

Taj Mahal fundraiser full of colour and sparkle

The Illawarra community came together for the biennial Taj Mahal Dinner on Saturday to raise funds for The Disability Trust, TIGS Foundation and Illawarra Passionate Cricketers Club.

The evening was full of colour and sparkle as we were taken on a journey to the Taj Mahal.

More than 450 guests embraced the rich and diverse heritage of Indian culture through traditional dress and exquisite cuisine at the University of Wollongong’s University Hall.

They were also treated to Bollywood dance lessons and performances by Bollywood Dance Company Sydney.  There were performances by four tenors, Australia’s very own iL Mondo, live auctions and raffles in a fantastic evening celebrating the Indian community of the Illawarra.

The hard-working committee led by Doctors Sharad and Lata Tamhane, and Usha Fernandez, once again delivered an exceptional event.

The dance floor erupted after the formalities with DJ Bali giving guests an opportunity to try out their Bollywood moves.

Funds raised from the evening will be used to support young people with disability through The Disability Trust’s outdoor resources for children staying at our Nanga Mai respite facility. As well as supporting KidsWish’s mission to fulfil the lives of children living with disability or illness and their families through programs, special events and community-impact projects.

An update on the total amount raised will be announced in the near future.
