The Disability Trust has been recognised for 30 years of membership with National Disability Services (NDS), marking three decades of collaboration, advocacy and commitment to strengthening Australia’s disability sector.
The milestone was celebrated during a special presentation attended by Michael Perusco, CEO of National Disability Services, and Lowri Williams, State Manager NSW. Together, they presented The Disability Trust with a commemorative plaque acknowledging the organisation’s long-standing contribution to the sector.
Michael Perusco reflected on how much the disability sector has evolved over the past three decades and the important role organisations like The Disability Trust have played in that journey.
“Thirty years ago, the sector looked very different, and the reality for people with disability in the community was very different as well,” he said.
“By coming together with a peak body like NDS, providers have played an important role in driving change. Collaboration across the sector helps ensure people receive the best possible support.”
Mr Perusco also acknowledged The Disability Trust’s leadership and innovation, noting the organisation is frequently recognised within the sector for its governance model and commitment to inclusive approaches.
The presentation highlighted the strong partnership between The Disability Trust and NDS, and the shared commitment to advocating for people with disability and supporting organisations delivering essential services across Australia.
Reflecting on the partnership, leaders from The Disability Trust thanked NDS for its ongoing advocacy and representation of the disability sector.
The recognition serves as a reminder of how far the sector has come and the importance of continuing to work together to create a more inclusive future for people with disability.
As the sector continues to evolve, The Disability Trust remains committed to innovation, collaboration and ensuring people with disability have opportunities to participate fully in their communities.
