Understanding the Latest NDIS Updates.

Last Updated: 19 June 2026

The Australian Government has announced proposed changes to the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).

We understand that announcements like this can feel uncertain and may raise questions about what these changes could mean for you, your family, carers, and the supports you rely on.

We want you to know that you are not alone in this.

Across all of our services, our focus remains the same: supporting you to live your life, your way.

As a trusted, registered provider, we are here to provide safe, consistent support you can rely on. We will continue to share information as it becomes available and help you understand what it means for you when the time is right.

What we know right now

The Australian Government has announced a package of proposed reforms aimed at securing the future sustainability of the NDIS.

The reforms focus on four key areas:

Returning the NDIS to its original intent

The Government has stated that the NDIS should focus on supporting people with permanent and significant disability.

Future access to the NDIS is proposed to be based more heavily on a person’s functional capacity (how disability impacts daily life) rather than diagnosis alone.

Changes to planning and funding

The Government has proposed:

  • New assessment and planning processes
  • More consistent participant budgets
  • Changes to plan rollovers and reassessments
  • Updated approaches to determining what supports are considered reasonable and necessary

Community participation

The Government has announced:

  • A new Inclusive Communities Fund
  • Plans to strengthen community-based supports outside the NDIS
  • Future development of “Foundational Supports” for people who may not require NDIS-funded supports

Quality, safety and fraud prevention

The Government has proposed:

  • Expanded provider registration requirements
  • Increased oversight and compliance measures
  • New safeguards designed to improve quality and reduce fraud
We also know that the Australian Government has indicated some areas of NDIS funding are likely to change over time.

In particular, proposed reforms may affect funding for:

Social and community participation supports
Some capacity-building supports
Other flexible support categories currently under review

At this stage, we do not know how individual participants may be affected, and many details are still being developed.

As more information becomes available, we will continue to share updates and help people understand what those changes may mean.

What is not changing right now

We know many people are concerned about what this means today.

Right now:

  • Your supports continue as normal
  • There are no immediate changes to your services with us
  • Our teams continue to provide support as usual
  • We are continuing to monitor developments closely

If anything changes in the future, we will communicate with you as early as possible.

We are advocating for you

In our submission to the Senate Community Affairs Committee Inquiry into the NDIS Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026, we supported changes that strengthen the NDIS, improve safety, reduce fraud and make decisions fairer and more consistent.

We also raised concerns about changes that could reduce support, limit choice, affect employment opportunities, or leave people with complex needs without the help they rely on.

We believe NDIS reform should improve lives, protect independence and keep people with disability at the centre of every decision.
