Building Business Skills

We are participants in the School Leavers Support Group, and we decided to open a Café in the Goulburn centre. Several of us had previously passed a certificate of obtainment in a barista course, so we thought we would put our skills to good use. In opening the Café, we have built on our skills considerably. We have learnt:

  • Customer service
  • Money skills
  • Budgeting
  • Issuing receipts
  • Balancing books
  • Menu planning
  • Menu designing
  • Organisation
  • Hospitality
  • Meal prep
  • Cooking

We started out making simple coffees, moved on to making all different types of coffee with homemade cake and now we provide a lunch order service every Friday. We provide our customers with a loyalty card and a big smile each day.

CHLOE – Brings happiness to the place.

JOSH – Gives us work experience.

TOM – I like making coffee and hot chocolate.

WILLIAM – I like giving people coffee and hot chocolate.

LEIF – The best coffee I ever had.

It makes us feel good to be able to provide a great service.
