The Disability Trust has been operating out of Wollongong since 1974 and has strong local ties which provides a network of connection across the Illawarra community at all levels. In the Illawarra we facilitate supported employment through social enterprises such as Illawarra Vocational Services (IVS) and Plant Room Cafés. Our social enterprises provide meaningful employment and community engagement for people with a disability.
IVS has been operating in the region since 1986 and has many industrial and commercial customers. IVS prides itself on delivering quality work at a competitive price.
Plant Room Café is a great place to meet for coffee or a meal. Open at three locations with two Illawarra sites including Spring Hill / Wollongong and HammondCare’s dementia care village at Horsley.
KidsWish is a charity organisation which operates in partnership with The Disability Trust and is based in the Illawarra. The KidsWish mission is aimed at fulfilling the lives of children with disability or illness and their families through supportive programs and inclusive events.
KidsWish House is a purpose built shared community facility which was opened May 2023 at Flinders, Shellharbour. It provides an accessible space for families to attend programs and events in a specially designed, multi-functional complex.
