Get To Know Eric!

Eric is a new resident in our Home and Living services in the Hunter region, settling in with us after a few months in hospital. Eric lives with a rare degenerative neurological disorder, Multiple System Atrophy (MSA).

We sat down with Eric to learn more about his move, favourite foods, his family, and more.

How has the move and settling in gone?

It has been good, I am glad to be finally here. Everyone has been helpful with me settling in, making sure it has been an easy process.

How do you find the staff and your other housemates?

Good. The staff are always making sure I have everything I need or want. We have a laugh as well. My housemates are friendly, we celebrated Carol’s birthday not long ago.

Tell us a bit about your home life?

I have been married twice, with seven children and nine grandchildren. They are spread all over the country so don’t get to see them all but I do see my son, he is a chippie, he still lives at home at Caves Beach with my wife.

Are you a cat or dog person?

Definitely a dog person!

What was your occupation?

I was an accountant for the State Treasury.

Favourite football team?

St George Illawarra, and Queensland in State of Origin.

Favourite drink?

Lime thick shake with malt.

Favourite Food?

Fruit cake with ice-cream and custard with lime topping.

What is the funniest thing that has happened to you lately?

I was at my sisters, and she gave me a double Brandy Alexander. They thought they had killed me and was prodding and poking me to see if I was alive.

Have you a bucket list and if so, what is one thing on it?

I don’t have one. My life has been full, and I have enjoyed the journey so far. I have been lucky to do everything I have wanted.

Do you know a dad joke?

What did the evil chicken lay? Devilled eggs

You have a cheeky grin, do you like a joke?

Life is to be enjoyed and make the best of it, have fun along the way!
