The Disability Trust is celebrating being named national Employer of Choice at the Australian HR Awards.
Head of People Learning Culture, Rebecca Coombes, said it is the second year running The Disability Trust has taken out the award for organisations in the public and not for profit sector. This means it has twice been recognised nationally as one of the best organisations to work for.
Judges looked at everything from leadership, engagement, communication and employee benefits “We are so pleased to be awarded as the winner again after a very challenging year for all” said Ms Coombes.
“This accolade is a testament to the dedication of our workforce, management and the Board. Winning the award recognises our continued success and achievements in what has been a very challenging year for all.”
Ms Coombes said it was great to have the organisation recognised as such a great place to work.
“Our people, our workforce, are at the heart of all we do, ensuring the business achieves our organisational goals and enables an inclusive society. This award recognises the investment that we make in our people, to ensure that they are competent and confident in their roles, regardless of whether front-line/customer facing, or leadership.
“With the forecast continued growth and success as we lead into 2021 and beyond, we will continue to engage greater numbers of the best workers in our sector. We are continuously seeking improved and innovative processes and systems, and the employee journey and career opportunities will always remain front of focus.”
Chief Operating Officer, Ed Birt said The Disability Trust is experiencing unprecedented business growth which has included expansion into the Hunter.
“We continue to be a strong employer for the community sector. Keeping our service users and staff centre of mind throughout 2020, we have managed bushfire evacuations and the challenges of COVID while still successful in transitioning residents and opening new houses in the community.”
Chief Executive Officer, Margaret Bowen, said at the height of COVID-19 The Disability Trust temporarily suspended some service delivery of group-based programs for the safety and wellbeing of residents, participants and employees, and the business quickly adapted by innovating and introducing new individual and online services.
