Drama Groups bring the house down with laughter

The Disability Trust’s Southern Highlands Drama Groups overcame a late hiccup to ensure “the show must go on” when they performed recently at The Venue in Bowral.

Members of The Wednesday Group – Geraldine, William, Andrew, and Sean – diligently put in hours of rehearsing to perform a humorous and unique version of “Sing a Song of Sixpence” before family and friends.

Unfortunately, Sean was unwell on the day but another participant, Harriett, agreed to stand in for him and she did an amazing job.

Geraldine shone as the Queen, Andrew played the housemaid, William made for a convincing plastic surgeon and Harriett was the King/Francois/the Prince.

There were plenty of laughs throughout the performance and William kept everyone entertained with his harmonica while everyone waited for the play to start.

The actors did a fabulous job and received a huge round of applause.

Not to be outdone, The Monday Group took to the stage to perform a play entitled “Complaint Department and Lemonade” with Harriet backing up alongside Cameron and Harrison.

The hilarious play is based on a complaints department with each actor playing five different parts and they aced it!

Club Trust Team Leader Mark Curren did all the behind-the-scenes work to ensure the day went smoothly and the actors thrived under the direction of our Drama Teacher, Mandy Bransgrove, the manager of the Southern Highlands Youth Art Council.

Mandy works tirelessly each week mentoring the actors to get them ready for their big performance and very kindly lent the fabulous costumes and props for the performances.
