Celebrating 50 years of The Disability Trust

The Disability Trust celebrating 50-year anniversary in style

The Disability Trust is turning 50 this year and we are planning a range of celebrations for this important milestone.

As always, the people we support are at the heart of our plans and we are hoping to make this year one to remember as we celebrate the massive strides the organisation has made since starting out from humble beginnings way back in 1974.

We are pleased to announce a gala dinner will be held on Friday, 25 October at the Novotel Wollongong Northbeach and a family fun day will also be held in Wollongong earlier in the month.

There will be further celebrations in other areas of the organisation’s wide geographical footprint, a commemorative video and booklet, and much, much more.

We have also launched a fantastic commemorative logo.

The 50-Year Committee has been hard at work over the past few months and we will post regular updates as we lock in more dates and locations for the celebratory events.

The Disability Trust has grown significantly over the course of half a century to now provide services throughout NSW, the ACT, South-East Queensland, Melbourne and the Northern Territory but our mission remains the same – to create an inclusive world, where people with disability can live the life they choose.

We think that’s worth celebrating and we hope you can play a part in our 50-year festivities too.

We are on the lookout for any photos, video footage or mementos from the early days of The Disability Trust, or any story ideas that we can incorporate into the souvenir magazine and video that we are planning to release as part of the celebrations. If you would like to contribute, please email them to communications@disabilitytrustorg.au.
