Minister Shorten visits The Trust

The Minister for the NDIS, Bill Shorten, spoke about the importance of the future of the NDIS during a visit to The Disability Trust head office in Wollongong on Thursday.

Representatives from the Illawarra Disability Alliance attended the meeting to hear from Minister Shorten about the importance of the NDIS in delivering support to the community where it is most needed.

He reinforced the Federal Government’s commitment to the NDIS and delivering better outcomes for people with disability.

Minister Shorten said he wants the NDIS to be a consistent, transparent and equitable process for everyone who needs support.

CEO Carol Berry represented The Disability Trust at the meeting while the Assistant Treasurer Stephen Jones and the Member for Cunningham, Alison Byrnes, were also in attendance.

Staff members from The Plant Room Café were happy to take the opportunity to showcase their barista skills for all meeting attendees.

And they also didn’t miss the chance to mingle with the Minister and get him to pose for a few selfies.

The Trust was very grateful to have Minister Shorten, Minister Jones and Alison Byrnes MP on site showing their support for a strong future for the NDIS.

Tegan Bezzina (Community Gateway), Rebecca Curry (Aruma), Laura Burling (Spinal Cord Injuries Australia), Chris Christodoulou (Greenacres), Jake Pearson (Interchange Illawarra), Rodney Von Clarke (Flagstaff Group), Renee Knight (CareSouth), Philip Petrie (Allevia) and Karen Burdett (The Cram Foundation) represented their organisations as part of the Illawarra Disability Alliance.
