Get to know the CEO

Get to know our new CEO, Carol Berry. Appointed in January 2023, Carol brings expertise and passion to her new leadership role.

1. What are your priorities as CEO?
I want to help achieve our mission of creating an inclusive world. I am very passionate about what we do at The Disability Trust. It is my job to ensure that we provide exceptional services to the people we support.

2. Besides being appointed as CEO of The Disability Trust, what other career milestones or highlights have you experienced?
I have been lucky to have had a very varied career – I have worked as a political adviser, I have led not-for-profit organisations, and have worked for both the state and federal governments. I also used to work as a human rights lawyer, which really ignited my passion around the rights of people with disability.

3. When you’re not working, how do you like to spend your free time?
I like to spend time with my husband and kids, and our dog Hazel. I also like spending time with my friends, doing yoga and swimming, camping, bush walking and playing music.

4. In the future when you look back on your time as CEO, what would you like to be remembered for?
That I was a passionate advocate for the rights of people with disability, and that I helped to make a difference to people’s lives in a very real and practical way.
