Carol Berry as new CEO

The Disability Trust is delighted to announce the appointment of Carol Berry to the role of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) effective 21 January 2023. Existing CEO Margaret Bowen has done an outstanding job leading The Disability Trust over the last 35 years and will be retiring following a handover period early in the new year.

Carol Berry is currently General Manager Operations at The Disability Trust and her appointment follows an extensive recruitment process to identify an outstanding leader to take the organisation into its next phase of development.

Chair of the Board of The Disability Trust, Peter Langkamp, said “The Board is delighted to be working with Carol to deliver The Disability Trust’s vision and strategy, to innovate and enhance client experience and continue to strengthen and transform the organisation”

Carol Berry commenced her career as a solicitor specialising in human rights law before transitioning into public interest advocacy and finally into the disability sector where she has worked for over 15 years. She has extensive disability experience having worked in both the government (federal and state) and non-government sectors and is highly motivated to create more inclusive communities. Carol has thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to contribute to The Disability Trust and looks forward to strengthening services in the future.

Retiring CEO, Margaret Bowen, said “Carol is a strong and talented leader who will bring new ideas and energy to the role. She will develop the strategic capability of The Disability Trust while applying the continuing filter of what is right for people with disability and their families.”
