Welcome Aboard: Three new directors join The Disability Trust

As The Disability Trust plots a course into an exciting future, we are pleased to announce the addition of three new directors to join our Board.

Madeline Tynan

A familiar name in the region, Madeline Tynan is the Marketing Director of the Tynan Motors Group. She is also the organiser of The Michael Tynan Challenge, set up in her father’s honour, which raises funds for medical research in the St George, Sutherland and Wollongong areas.

Madeline is a Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and brings a wealth of corporate experience. She is also strongly committed to contributing to the community, having previously served in several local, state and national organisations including Women on Boards, Women in Business, NSW Family Business Association, and the St George and Sutherland Shire Medical Research Foundation.

Steve Kinmond OAM

Prior to his appointment as the CEO of Association of Children’s Welfare Agencies in February 2019, Steve was the NSW Community & Disability Services Commissioner and Deputy Ombudsman (Human Services) for 15 years. At the NSW Ombudsman, Steve had legislative responsibility for reviewing and promoting improvements in community and disability services. He has also had extensive involvement in reviewing service delivery and justice issues affecting Aboriginal communities.

Steve believes that our community must demonstrate a very strong commitment to promoting and safeguarding the rights of people with disability.

Dr Peter Langkamp

Peter is the primary carer for his eldest son who has a disability, he has first-hand experience of the issues faced by unpaid carers and a deep understanding of the challenges involved in navigating the NDIS.

In addition to his lived experience of disability, Peter brings extensive personal knowledge of both the private and public sectors. He has held high-level positions at Shell Australia, National Australia Bank, NRMA, Acxiom, Callista Software Services, the National Disability Insurance Agency and Bendigo Bank. He is currently a strategic advisor with Accenture, where he is an industry specialist in disability, aged care and health.

Peter served as President of Carers Australia and Chair of Yooralla. He brings strategic insights and operational experience to The Disability Trust, as well as empathy and a commitment to supporting individuals, families and communities, especially those who are disadvantaged or vulnerable, either as recipients of services or as carers.
